Smoke Eaters hire Ty Rimmer as new goaltending coach
Trail, British Columbia (July 28th, 2021) – The Smoke Eaters are excited to announce the addition of Ty Rimmer to our coaching staff as the teams new goaltending coach.
Rimmer, from Edmonton, Alberta, is only a few short years removed from playing the position and brings with him a wealth of experience. From his junior days where he played over 150 games in the WHL, to his pro career with 100 plus games in the ECHL plus two seasons spent overseas in Europe. Since stepping away from playing, Ty has been working as a full time lead goalie coach with Above the Crease Goaltending and has worked with the Leduc U18 AAA team.
“I am very excited to be joining a first class organization in Trail. I believe that with my recent playing experience, and adaptable coaching style. I will be able to help our goalies navigate the ups & downs of a junior hockey season” says Ty Rimmer.
“We are excited to add Ty to the Smoke Eaters staff as the team’s goalie coach. Ty has extensive professional hockey experience at the goaltender position that will help the team’s goalies moving forward. Ty’s high work ethic, compete level and attention to detail will be a welcomed addition to the organization. We would like to welcome Ty and his wife Alexa to the Smoke Eaters Family.” – HC & GM Tim Fragle
The Smoke Eaters organization would like to thank former goalie coach Cam Basarab for all his contributions to the team and wish him all the best in his new position as the coordinator of goaltending development at the Rink Academy in Kelowna.
