Smoke Eaters announce captain for 2020/21 season
Trail, British Columbia (October 9th, 2020) – The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce that veteran defenceman Cody Schiavon will be this year’s team captain.
Schiavon, who begins his first full season in Trail after being acquired last October, will take the leadership mantle, replacing graduating player Philippe Lapointe, as this year’s captain. Prior to being traded Schiavon was an assistant captain in 2018/19 and named captain in 2019/20 with the Surrey Eagles. While he didn’t have a letter when he arrived in Trail, Schiavon quickly established himself as one of the leaders among last year’s team, sharing an “A” with Max Kryski through the back half of last season. With 21 points in 34 games last year Schiavon also let his play do the talking last year.
