The Smoke Eaters are about to begin one of their busiest stretches of the season with four games in five nights. While the schedule ahead will be in the back of their minds the Smoke Eaters will be solely focused on tonight and taking it one game at a time. It’s one of the few instances where the Smoke Eaters play the same team two games in a row. The perfect scenario for the Smoke Eaters to put a strong bounce back performance together and get their first win in this young season. A win that will go a long way for this young group of players as they continue to develop. Sunday’s game against the Bucks showed us that Noah Wakeford and Kalen Szeto are quickly creating a dangerous amount of chemistry, with both players scoring the three Smoke Eaters goals between them (Wakeford x2, Szeto x1). The Smoke Eaters also brought wave after wave of attack during the third period. Playing some smart and exciting hockey. A sequence that should excite fans of what’s to come, not only in this pod season but for next year as well. The Smoke Eaters can expect to see Nathan Airey in the Bucks net tonight, while Logan Terness is the likely candidate for Trail, looking to make his mark on the season and help the team grab that first win.
After picking up their first win in franchise history on Sunday afternoon, the Bucks will be looking to make it two in a row against the Smoke Eaters. The Bucks will likely make a handful of roster changes like the Smoke Eaters to keep everyone fresh while getting everyone up to game speed. That being said Ryan Donald has to be pretty happy with how his team has preformed so far through two games. They played a strong 40 minutes against the Vees on Saturday before the hometown team took over in the third and backstopped by strong goaltending and a strong work ethic were able to knock off the Smoke Eaters on Sunday. They’ll know they will have to be ready tonight however as the Smoke Eaters are bound to come at the Bucks with everything they’ve got. The line of Kindrachuk, Vasko and Walker Gelbard continues to be a threat for Cranbrook, and should that line stay together tonight, it’s one the Smoke Eaters will need to be cautious of.
Puck drop is at 7pm as the Smoke Eaters look to bounce back against the Bucks and pick up their first win. A Win that will give them confidence going into a busy stretch of games. Catch today’s game on BCHLTVÂ or Shaw Spotlight.
