The BC Hockey League (BCHL) announced a new player support program today that will give all BCHL athletes access to virtual healthcare through an app on their smart phone at any time of day.
The league has adopted a virtual health care app and mental health support for its players, providing them with an anonymous support system featuring a number of services, including:
- Guided learning online therapy
- Face-to-face online therapy
- Personal crisis management
- Nutrition
- Coaching
- Critical incident response
This system acts as a streamlined way to offer BCHL players medical support, while guaranteed to be anonymous and conducted by a certified medical professional.
On top of virtual appointments, the platform also provides users with digital support tools, including helpful posters and videos explaining how the system works and how they can best take advantage of its services.
